Test rules and how to send your score
The page sets deadlines for the test result: for the October intake, 1 July for non-EU applicants who need a visa to travel to Malta and 30 September for others; for the February intake, 30 October and 31 January. Without the result by then you will not be admitted. Research master's and PhD applicants submit it before the course starts.
The page gives a two-year validity rule for TOEFL, IELTS and ISET but states none for PTE, and does not mention PTE Academic Online or PTE Core. On the same page, IELTS Academic is 6.0 for undergraduate and 6.5 for postgraduate courses.

If you fall short
The Foundation Studies route asks the lowest PTE level, 59 with 53 per element. The page links to a separate exemptions page and to separate requirements for postgraduate courses in the Department of English, which may differ from the table above.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your University of Malta programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
