What TOEFL score do you need for the University of Oklahoma?

OU's TOEFL institution code is 6879, and it accepts paper and electronic score reports sent directly from ETS. Both the TOEFL iBT and the TOEFL iBT Home Edition are accepted, but not the TOEFL Essentials test. Undergraduate scores more than two years old by the start of your term are not accepted unless you have been at school in the US since the test.

The Graduate College does not accept MyBest scores; the composite and subscores must come from one test. Tests taken after 21 January 2026 must meet the new-system minimums.

For comparison, the undergraduate page sets IELTS at 6.5, and the graduate page at 6.5 with 6.0 subscores.

Graduate applicants recommended for admission by a participating academic unit can be nominated for the Graduate English Pathway with the scores in the table. The Center for English as a Second Language course fee is $3,200 per semester, on top of 3 to 6 credit hours of graduate coursework, and the pathway does not run in summer.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Oklahoma programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
