How USF handles Duolingo scores

USF accepts official Duolingo English Test results alongside TOEFL, IELTS and PTE Academic. The undergraduate page says USF may, at its sole discretion, make exceptions to the proficiency rules or waive official results. Neither page states a Duolingo validity period.

Graduate exemptions for study in English-speaking countries are decided by the specific graduate programme.

For comparison, the same pages put IELTS at 6.0 minimum and 6.5 preferred for undergraduates, and 6.5 to 7.0 for graduate programmes.

If your Duolingo score is below USF's level

An undergraduate score of 100 to 124 still leads to admission, through the Academic English programme rather than direct entry. Undergraduates can also skip the test through routes on the page such as a SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing score or an A or B in a US college English composition course.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your USF programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
