How U of T handles TOEFL scores
Undergraduate admissions will not use TOEFL MyBest scores and does not accept TOEFL Essentials, TOEFL ITP or TOEFL ITP Plus for China. Results must be sent electronically by ETS, and the institution code is 0982-00.
Graduate applicants must have taken the test within 24 months of submitting the application. SGS accepts the iBT taken at a centre or at home (Home Edition), does not accept ITP or MyBest scores, and uses institution code 0982 with no department code. The SGS page notes that score reports show both the 0 to 120 and 1 to 6 scales until 21 January 2028.
For comparison, the undergraduate page sets IELTS Academic at 6.5 with no band below 6.0, and the SGS page asks for 7.0 with at least 6.5 in each component.

If your TOEFL score is below U of T's level
Academically qualified undergraduate applicants who miss the English requirement can take one of U of T's English language transition programmes, offered on all three campuses and running from six weeks to eight months. A B grade at Level 60 of the School of Continuing Studies Academic English course also meets the requirement.
For graduate applicants with a conditional offer, the School of Continuing Studies runs an 8-week condensed Level 60 course in July and August; the SGS page says you need at least TOEFL 80 or IELTS 6 to qualify for it.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your University of Toronto programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
