Which TOEFL versions UQ College accepts

UQ College and The University of Queensland only recognise TOEFL iBT with section scores reported on a 1 to 30 scale. They do not recognise TOEFL iBT with section scores on a 1 to 6 scale, the TOEFL iBT Home Edition or TOEFL ITP. The page asks you to select "Taking TOEFL for Australia" when you register.

TOEFL iBT score reports from January 2026 also carry a 1 to 6 band score; our guide to the new TOEFL score scale explains how the two scales appear on a report.

For comparison, the same page asks IELTS 5.5 with no sub-score below 5.0 for the Standard program, and 6.0 with 6.0 in writing and 5.5 in the others for the Accelerated program.

If your TOEFL score falls short

UQ College also runs English language courses, including Bridging English, whose final assessment can meet UQ's entry requirement. Foundation students then need the Academic English grade their chosen UQ degree sets, which the page lists program by program.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your UQ College programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
