What each provider says about release time
IDP India's TRF page answers the question directly: most results are uploaded in the afternoon (IST) on the official IDP portal, although timings may vary by region and exact release time may vary by test centre (IDP India).
ielts.org does not give a time of day. It says British Council candidates get an email with a link to view their scores, IDP candidates see results in their IDP account, and candidates who tested in the USA get an email with a link to their IELTS USA account (ielts.org).
| Provider | How you find out | Time of day stated? |
|---|---|---|
| IDP India | Results uploaded to the candidate portal | Mostly afternoon IST; varies by region and centre |
| IDP Australia | Centre notifies you; email when the eTRF is ready | No |
| British Council | Email with a link to your scores | No |
| IELTS USA | Email with a link to your IELTS USA account | No |
Which day to expect them
The day matters more than the hour. IDP India says IELTS on computer results are typically available within 1 to 2 days of the test (IDP India), and IDP Australia says you can preview IELTS on computer results online typically within 1 day (IDP Australia). For every test type, see our guide to how long IELTS results take.
One Skill Retake results come within 3 to 5 days, according to ielts.org. A re-mark outcome can arrive on the same day you apply or up to 21 days later (ielts.org).

What you need to see them
ielts.org says you need your passport or ID number (the same one you registered with) and your candidate number to view results online (ielts.org). IDP Australia asks for your passport number, personal details and test date, and keeps results online for 28 days (IDP Australia).
What you see online is provisional. IDP Australia says only the TRF or eTRF is official confirmation, and IDP India says centres are not authorised to share results by email, phone or fax (IDP India). Detailed rules are set locally and can differ by country and test centre, so check your booking confirmation or ask your centre if anything here does not match what you were told.
