Exemptions and transfer students
You do not need a test if you hold citizenship in a country where English is the official language and the language of higher education, or if you graduated from a high school where you studied for at least three years in English; the school must confirm this in a signed letter or transcript.
Transfer students can instead complete 24 transferable hours at a US university or community college with a C or better in English composition.

Deadlines, deposits and how to check
Fall applications must arrive by 1 June and spring by 1 November. Admitted students pay a $300 enrollment deposit and a $2,200 tuition deposit together before the I-20 process starts. Wingate says merit scholarships for international students range from $15,000 to $30,500 but are not guaranteed.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admission cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Wingate programme page and in your admission letter, so check it there before you book a test.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where Wingate University publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
