XJTLU TOEFL iBT minimums
From XJTLU's international undergraduate entry requirements, master's entry requirements with its equivalence table, and PhD entry requirements. Master's figures follow the IELTS level on each programme page; the rows below are XJTLU's own table.

Test rules at XJTLU
For 2027 master's entry, XJTLU accepts only IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT and PTE Academic, taken onsite and completed no earlier than 1 January 2025. Both the master's and PhD pages say MyBest scores of TOEFL iBT are not accepted. The PhD page adds that results are valid for two years from the test date to the programme start date, and its standard row is 88 overall with L19, R19, W19 and S20 for tests on or before 20 January 2026.
On the same pages, the standard PhD IELTS level is 6.5 with no band below 6.0, and Year 2 undergraduate entry is IELTS 6.5 with 5.5 in all sections.

If your TOEFL score falls short
For master's applicants, XJTLU says that if you miss the requirement by 0.5 of an overall IELTS band, or the equivalent, but meet the Pre-Sessional English course requirements, you may be accepted onto that course with the Programme Director's approval and then have your offer made unconditional for English.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your XJTLU programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
