Elmbury Parkway Station: Guide to the Concourse
Skip to the questions ↓A new station
Elmbury Parkway Station opened last spring to serve the new housing estates on the edge of town and the business park beside the ring road. Trains run every fifteen minutes to the city centre and every hour to the coast. All passenger facilities are on a single level, as described below.
Coming in
The main entrance from the station forecourt is at the south-west corner of the building, and the Ticket Office is immediately inside. It is staffed from 6 am to 8 pm; outside these hours, tickets must be bought from the machines. East of the Ticket Office, along the south wall, is the newsagent, which sells newspapers, snacks and travel accessories. Next to it are the Toilets, and further east, standing on its own in the south-east part of the concourse, is a photo booth for passport and travel-card photographs.
The concourse
The ticket machines are on the western side of the concourse, directly north of the Ticket Office. In the middle of the concourse hang the Departure Boards, which show the platform and any delays for every train. To the east of the Departure Boards is the coffee kiosk, open from 5.30 am until the last train. Bags and suitcases can be left for up to 24 hours at left luggage, at the eastern end of the concourse; a charge of £6 per item is made.
Reaching the trains
Platform 1 runs along the north side of the station, outside the building. To reach it, passengers pass through the Ticket Barriers on the north-west side of the concourse. Next to the barriers, on their eastern side, is the waiting room, which is heated in winter and has seats for forty people. Passengers who cannot use the stairs to the footbridge should take the Lift in the north-east corner of the building.
Travel information
Bicycles can be taken on most trains outside the morning and evening rush hours. Passengers who need help getting on or off a train should contact the station staff at least two hours before travelling.
