Millbeck Sports Ground Open Day: Visitor Map
Skip to the questions ↓Open Day
Millbeck Sports Ground is holding its annual Open Day on Saturday 14 June from 10 am to 4 pm. Local clubs will be running free taster sessions in more than twenty sports, and everyone is welcome, whatever their age or ability. Entry is free, although donations towards the ground's new floodlights will be gratefully received.
When you arrive
Visitors come in through the main gate in the middle of the southern boundary and walk straight up to the Pavilion, where volunteers will hand out programmes and wristbands. West of the Pavilion, in the south-west corner of the ground, are the food vans, selling everything from burgers to vegan wraps. East of the Pavilion is the information tent, where lost children can be collected and where you can sign up for club membership.
The middle of the ground
Directly north of the Pavilion is the Running Track, which stretches across most of the western half of the ground. Athletics coaches will be timing sprint races there all day. To the east of the track are the Tennis Courts, and beyond them, on the eastern edge of the ground, is the climbing wall, which is suitable for children aged seven and over. Helmets and harnesses are provided.
The north of the ground
The Access Road runs from east to west across the ground, north of the Running Track; please take care when crossing it, as delivery vans will be using it during the day. Beyond the road, the Cricket Pitch takes up the centre of the northern part of the ground. To its west, in the north-west corner, is the archery range, which is fenced off for safety. To the east of the Cricket Pitch, in the north-east corner, is the bowling green, where members of Millbeck Bowls Club will teach beginners.
Please note
Parking at the ground is limited to blue badge holders, so we recommend arriving by bus or bicycle. Dogs on leads are welcome, but they are not allowed on the Cricket Pitch or the bowling green. Bring a water bottle: there are free refill points beside the Pavilion and the Tennis Courts.
