Supermarket Packaging Project Findings
Grace and Leo analysed packaging data from three local supermarkets. Unexpectedly, goods in the 1 contained the greatest amount of unrecyclable plastic. Furthermore, 2 of all packaging trays examined were made from black plastic. The students also criticised the unnecessary use of 3 on multipack products. When categorising items according to their 4, they found perishable goods had far more protective layers. During customer interviews, shoppers reported that a lack of 5 prevented them from recycling effectively. To present their statistical findings clearly, the students decided to use 6 instead of tables. Finally, for their project conclusion, they agreed to produce an 7 to help local retailers reduce waste.
