1

Are there many billboards in your hometown?

Yes, quite a lot, especially along the main ring road and near busy junctions. Most of them advertise things like new flats or local car dealerships, so they are pretty hard to miss when you get stuck in heavy traffic.

2

Do you usually pay attention to billboards when you travel?

To be honest, only if something really catches my eye, like a clever slogan or striking photography. Most of the time, I just treat them as background noise, particularly when I'm commuting to work by bus.

3

Have you ever bought something because of a billboard advert?

I don't think I've ever made an impulse buy directly from one, but a giant poster for an outdoor film festival once prompted me to book tickets later that evening. It definitely did its job in that instance.

4

Do you prefer traditional billboards or digital video screens?

I suppose I prefer classic, static hoardings. The digital LED screens can be quite blinding at night, which feels slightly hazardous for drivers, whereas printed displays are far less distracting and look much neater.

5

Do you think billboards spoil the appearance of cities?

In certain areas, definitely. When a historic high street is cluttered with oversized commercial signs, it really ruins the local aesthetic. Having said that, along motorways or industrial estates, they don't bother me at all.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
