1

Do you like listening to jazz music?

Yes, I'm quite fond of it, actually. I find the complex rhythms really soothing after a hectic day at work. I usually put on some smooth saxophone tracks in the evening while I'm cooking dinner in my flat.

2

How often do you listen to jazz?

To be honest, not every single day, but probably a couple of times a week. It tends to be my go-to genre when I need to concentrate on studying, so I'll stream an instrumental playlist on my mobile phone to help me focus.

3

Did you listen to jazz when you were younger?

Not really, no. When I was growing up, my parents mainly played classical records or pop music, so I wasn't really exposed to jazz until I went to university and a flatmate introduced me to it.

4

Have you ever been to a live jazz performance?

I have, yes. Last autumn, a friend took me to a cosy basement club in the city centre. The atmosphere was incredible because the musicians were improvising right in front of us, and the trumpeter was exceptionally talented.

5

Would you like to learn to play a jazz instrument in the future?

I'd love to, especially the piano. I think being able to just sit down and improvise without sheet music must be such a liberating feeling, though I imagine mastering those chords would take years of dedication.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
