1

Do you ever take naps during the day?

Yes, occasionally, especially at the weekend. If I’ve had a hectic week at work, I love having a quick twenty-minute doze on the sofa on Saturday afternoon. It just helps me recharge my batteries before heading out in the evening.

2

How long do you usually sleep if you take a nap?

Generally, no more than about half an hour. I find that if I sleep any longer than that, I end up feeling really groggy and sluggish for the rest of the day, which completely defeats the purpose of resting.

3

Do you feel refreshed or tired after napping?

Most of the time, I wake up feeling quite revitalised, as long as I set an alarm on my mobile phone. It gives me a welcome burst of energy to get through household chores or finish off any reading I need to do.

4

Did you take naps when you were a child?

To be honest, I hated them when I was little. My parents always tried to make me lie down after lunch, but I'd just lie awake wishing I was outside playing football with my neighbours instead.

5

Do you think taking a nap is popular in your country?

I suppose it depends on the age group. It’s definitely common for elderly people and young toddlers, but most working adults simply don’t have the time because of demanding office hours and busy commutes.

6

Would you like to take more naps in the future?

I’d certainly love to, especially on weekdays. If my company ever introduced quiet relaxation pods or allowed a short siesta after lunch, I think my productivity in the afternoons would improve dramatically.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
