1

Do you often wear scarves?

Yes, quite often, especially during the autumn and winter months. I tend to feel the cold easily, so wrapping up warm is essential for me. I usually throw on a chunky knitted scarf before heading out for my morning commute.

2

What kind of scarves do you prefer?

I'm definitely drawn to softer fabrics like wool or cashmere, because anything scratchy really irritates my skin. In terms of colour, I usually opt for neutral tones like grey or navy, as they go with almost all my winter coats.

3

Did you wear scarves when you were a child?

I did, although I wasn't particularly keen on them. My mother used to insist on bundling me up in a bright red, hand-knitted scarf before school. I remember constantly fidgeting with it and trying to take it off the moment I got to the playground.

4

Have you ever bought a scarf as a gift for someone?

Yes, a couple of times. Just last Christmas, I bought a lovely silk scarf for my sister's birthday. I think they make brilliant presents because you don't really have to worry about getting the exact clothing size right, and they feel quite thoughtful.

5

Do people in your country wear scarves mainly for warmth or for fashion?

I'd say it's a bit of both, depending on the season. In the depths of winter, it's definitely about practicality and keeping out the chill. However, in spring, lots of people use lightweight printed scarves simply to accessorise and add a pop of colour to an outfit.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
