For instance, Tokyo’s extensive greening initiatives have successfully lowered local temperatures and provided necessary recreational spaces, enhancing the mental well-being of the city's inhabitants.

Conversely, public transport investment addresses the primary driver of urban air pollution: vehicular emissions. Expanding subways or implementing electric bus networks significantly reduces the number of private cars on the road, leading to a substantial decline in particulate matter. A notable example is Curitiba, where a sophisticated bus rapid transit system drastically lowered traffic congestion and carbon output, demonstrating that systemic infrastructure changes have a more profound impact on air quality than vegetation alone.

In conclusion, while trees contribute positively to the urban environment, they are insufficient to tackle the scale of modern pollution.
