What PTE score do you need for Boston College?

Boston College publishes a PTE minimum in one place: the Carroll School of Management asks graduate applicants for PTE 68. The undergraduate international page and the Morrissey College graduate school list only TOEFL, IELTS and Duolingo, so PTE is not a route there on the pages as read. Carroll School applicants can also waive the test.

Boston College PTE minimums

The Carroll School international applicants page and its English test FAQ both give PTE 68 as the minimum for Carroll School graduate programs. The undergraduate international page says non-US citizens must submit TOEFL iBT, IELTS or Duolingo scores, and the Morrissey College graduate admission page asks for TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo. Neither names PTE.

Test rules and how PTE compares

The Carroll School pages give an overall PTE figure only, with no per-skill floor, and they do not say whether PTE Academic Online or PTE Core is accepted, how long a score stays valid or how to send it. The FAQ adds that the Carroll School does not accept the TOEFL MyBest score.

On the same Carroll School table, PTE 68 sits alongside IELTS 7.5, TOEFL iBT 100 (5 on the new scale) and Duolingo 130.

Waivers and if you fall short

The Carroll School waives the test if you completed a four-year bachelor's or two-year master's degree entirely at an English-medium institution, or if you have worked full time after your degree for at least two years in the US or a country where English is an official language. The FAQ says you claim the waiver yourself in the application. The pages do not describe conditional admission or an English pathway.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Boston College programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
