What PTE score do you need for Brown University?

Brown's undergraduate page lets you self-report a result in the application, but official score reports are required for every matriculating student who self-reported. Brown does not accept MyBest scores. For students starting in fall 2027, official reports are due in May 2027, and if your result will expire before then you must have the testing agency send the official report before it expires. Expired reports are not accepted.

The page does not mention PTE Academic Online or PTE Core. For comparison, the same page expects IELTS 8.0 against PTE 75, among the highest PTE expectations in this set of US universities.

Brown describes 75 as the minimum expected in most cases rather than an absolute cut-off, but the page offers no conditional or pathway route. If you are well below 75, a retake or another accepted test (TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo or Cambridge) is the practical option.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Brown programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
