Who needs B2, and other proofs
Ca' Foscari's Language Centre says everyone enrolling on a bachelor's taught in English, or on any master's degree, needs certified English at B2. Bachelor's students must also pass the CLA B2 certificate to graduate. For open-admission master's, the master's admissions page says your English is also evaluated.
Trinity ISE II, LanguageCert, Oxford Test of English and Aptis are on the list. Duolingo is not.

Foundation year and scholarships
The guide lists an eight-month, English-taught Foundation Year at €5,000 for students not yet eligible for a bachelor's. For autumn 2026 entry it listed 20 renewable €10,000 scholarships for master's students and 8 for bachelor's students.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Ca' Foscari programme page and in your offer, so check it there before you book a test.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where Ca' Foscari University of Venice publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
