What IELTS score do you need for the University of Bologna?

On the curriculum pages we read, you upload a recognised certificate to Studenti Online with your application, and with every application if you enter more than one selection. Those pages require a certificate issued from 1 January 2023.

Bachelor's programmes follow the same pattern. International Studies in Forlì asks for TOLC-E plus English at B2 (or SAT), with a certificate obtained from 1 February 2023 and issued by a body recognised by the University Language Centre (CLA).

Several curricula accept a self-declaration that you are a native English speaker, or a certificate stating your bachelor's or master's was taught in English. Medical Biotechnology also accepts a school or university qualification with English as the official teaching language.

Civil Engineering is stricter: an English-medium degree counts only if it lasted at least two years (120 ECTS) and was delivered in the EU/EEA, the UK, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, the West Indies, Guyana or Switzerland. Medium-of-instruction certificates from other countries, including India and Pakistan, are not admissible there.

Some programmes, such as Food Animal Metabolism and Management, let you sit Bologna's Online Oxford Placement Test instead; passing at B2 meets the requirement, but no certificate is issued.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Bologna programme page and in your offer, so check it there before you book a test.
