CCT's own English check and the visa
CCT considers IELTS, Duolingo, TOEFL, Cambridge First Certificate and other internationally accepted tests at application. It then gives its own English test before the course starts, covering listening, reading and writing, and an admissions interview to check speaking and understanding.
If you need a study visa, CCT says recognised English certificates such as IELTS, TOEFL or Duolingo must go to both CCT and the Irish visa authorities, and that failing to submit an approved certificate can lead to a visa refusal. PTE Academic is not named on the page, so ask CCT before you rely on it.

Course pages and band scores
Course pages describe the level rather than a band: the MSc in Data Analytics, for example, asks applicants whose first language isn't English for CEFR B2+, with an English certificate such as IELTS or TOEFL uploaded at application. CCT does not publish band minimums or a validity period for tests on these pages.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your CCT programme page and in your offer, so check it there before you book a test.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where CCT College Dublin publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
If you are close to the line, aim for a margin above it: one weak skill can miss the requirement even when the overall band clears it. Not sure where you stand? Take a free IELTS mock test and get a band for each skill.
