CWU Duolingo minimums by level
From the international undergraduate admissions page and the School of Graduate Studies international admissions page.
| Level or programme | Duolingo minimum | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Undergraduate | 105 | |
| Graduate | 120 | Waived for a US or English-medium bachelor's degree |
| Department of English (graduate) | Not stated for Duolingo | Page sets a higher TOEFL iBT figure of 88 |
How CWU handles Duolingo scores
Both pages describe Duolingo the same way: the proficiency score, video interview and writing sample are shared with CWU when you send your results, and certified results are available within 48 hours. Both pages say TOEFL and IELTS scores more than two years old cannot be used, but give no separate validity rule for Duolingo.
The graduate page asks for TOEFL 79, IELTS 6.5 or Duolingo 120 along with a 3.0 GPA on your last 90 quarter or 60 semester credits. It gives no teaching assistant English rule.
For comparison, the undergraduate page sets IELTS at 6.0 and the graduate page sets IELTS Academic at 6.5.

If your Duolingo score is below CWU's level
Undergraduates can also meet the requirement by completing CWU's UESL programme with a B or higher and a programme recommendation, or through English composition courses or listed Cambridge results. The graduate page lists no conditional route.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your CWU programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
