Test rules and how to send your score
The page lists Pearson PTE Academic and Pearson PTE Academic Online under the same minimums, so the online test counts. It does not mention PTE Core, a validity period or a Pearson institution code. It says some master's programmes may require a higher score, so check the department website.
On the same page, IELTS (Academic, Indicator or Online) is 6.0 for undergraduates and 6.5 for second bachelor's and graduate applicants. That puts PTE 47 alongside IELTS 6.0 and PTE 59 alongside IELTS 6.5.

If you fall short: conditional admission
Applicants who do not meet the requirement can apply for conditional admission by enrolling at one of Chico State's partner language schools; completing the required level replaces the test score. For graduate study, not every programme offers this. The page lists Art History, Business Administration (MBA), Electrical and Computer Engineering, Kinesiology, Political Science and Teaching International Languages.
