When schooling in English counts

Instead of a test, you can give certified evidence that your secondary schooling, or at least one year of tertiary study, was conducted in English. CHC also lists the paper-based TOEFL at 577. Duolingo is not on its course pages.

CHC's international students page notes that you must also meet the Australian Government's English requirements for the student visa, and you need your Letter of Offer and IELTS results before you apply for that visa.

Applying to CHC as an international student

International students can apply directly through CHC's online portal without an education agent, or through one of its agents. Direct applications carry a non-refundable AUD $200 application fee. CHC's CRICOS provider code is 01016F.

The Bachelor of Counselling can be studied full time or part time, on campus, online or in a mix.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your CHC course page and in your offer, so check it there before you book a test.

Minimum vs competitive score

Where Christian Heritage College (CHC), Australia publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.

Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.

If you are close to the line, aim for a margin above it: one weak skill can miss the requirement even when the overall band clears it. Not sure where you stand? Take a free IELTS mock test and get a band for each skill.
