What IELTS score do you need for Cranfield University?

The Accounting and Finance MSc in the School of Management is stricter than the central page: IELTS 6.5 with 6.0 in every skill, PTE 65 with 62, and it adds Duolingo 120 (110 in speaking, writing and reading, 105 in listening), IELTS Indicator, LanguageCert Academic 70 (65) and Password Skills Plus 6.5 (6.0). The Management MSc and Full-time MBA stay at the standard levels.

You need no test if you are a national of the UK or a UKVI majority English-speaking country, if you hold a higher education qualification from one of those countries, taught and assessed in English, gained within five years of the course start, or if you have worked continuously in the UK for five years before the course with an employer reference confirming your English. Cranfield's India page adds no separate school or degree waiver.

Cranfield's international applicants page says nationals of Bangladesh, Ghana, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Russia and Somalia must verify their qualifications through Qualification Check, for a £49 fee that is deducted from tuition when you register. The engineering courses above also need ATAS clearance.

The Management MSc and Full-time MBA pages list a £2,000 non-refundable deposit for overseas self-funded students on 2027-28 entry, offset against fees of £37,200 and £51,200. Cranfield issues CAS through CAS Shield only after you accept the offer, pay any deposit and meet all conditions, and may ask for financial evidence. Course pages point students below the required score to a Pre-sessional English for Academic Purposes course and warn that not all English tests suit a Student visa for pre-sessional study; that course page could not be loaded when checked, so its dates and fees are not given here.

For a Student visa, UK Visas and Immigration asks for English at CEFR B2 for degree-level study and B1 below degree level, per gov.uk. At degree level, gov.uk adds, your university can assess your English itself and may ask you to take a different test.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Cranfield programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
