Exemptions
High school students with two or more years of study in the US or Canada (except Quebec) may be exempt. So may students with two or more semesters at a US, Canadian (except Quebec), Australian, Irish, New Zealand, UK or South African college who earned a B or higher in two English writing or literature courses.
Daemen does not accept other proof of English, including letters stating the medium of instruction, and admissions may decline to waive the requirement at its discretion.

Programme-specific scores and how to check
The page also lists a higher TOEFL total of 100 and Duolingo 120 alongside some programme rules (physical therapy, nursing, athletic training and natural science appear nearby) without an IELTS equivalent, so confirm the figure for those programmes with admissions.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admission cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Daemen programme page and in your admission letter, so check it there before you book a test.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where Daemen University publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
