How IRCC checks a PTE Core result
From IRCC's language requirements instructions, its provincial nominee instructions and Pearson's PTE Core FAQ.
| Check | Source |
|---|---|
| Officers verify results at all stages and before a decision | IRCC language requirements |
| Results confirmed with the testing organisation if fraud is suspected | IRCC language requirements |
| Test-taker photo cross-checked where available | IRCC language requirements |
| Express Entry results checked electronically; no copies uploaded | IRCC provincial nominee instructions |
| Score Report Code lets IRCC securely verify results | Pearson PTE Core FAQ |
What this means when you fill in your profile
Enter your PTE Core scores and references exactly as they appear on your Score Report. IRCC's language test page asks for the results plus the form or certificate number and PIN if requested, and warns, in the context of a French-test change, that incorrect language scores could lead to a refused application.
Because officers can check at every stage, a score that does not match Pearson's record can surface late in processing, not just at the profile stage.

Which PTE test IRCC can verify for immigration
IRCC's designated test list says the PTE Core test is accepted by IRCC for immigration and citizenship purposes (IRCC). PTE Academic is a different test and is not on IRCC's Express Entry list. See PTE Academic vs PTE Core.
IRCC changes programme rules and score tables from time to time. Check the linked canada.ca page before you book a test or apply. This guide is general information, not immigration advice.
