When you can and cannot update
From IRCC's help centre and create profile page.
| Your situation | What IRCC says |
|---|---|
| Profile found eligible for the pool | You can update it and resubmit |
| Section shows 'Update form' | The profile is eligible and can be edited |
| Section shows only 'View form' | The profile was not found eligible |
| Profile found ineligible | It cannot be changed; create a new profile |
How to enter the new PTE Core result
Open the language section of your profile, select Update form, and enter the new test details and scores. IRCC's language test page asks for the results plus the form or certificate number and PIN if requested; for PTE Core, our IRCC sending guide shows which reference on the Score Report to use.
The create profile page says updating does not change the date and time it was received, so a tie-breaker rank is kept.
Need CLB 7+ for Express Entry?
IRCC accepts IELTS General Training and PTE Core, not IELTS Academic or PTE Academic. Practise the test you will actually sit, free.
Try PTE Core free →Practise before you book: free PTE mock test, PTE predictions, PTE Core practice test and PTE to IELTS converter.
If you already have an invitation
IRCC's language test page says that if you find you no longer meet the criteria you should decline your invitation for that round (IRCC). Enter scores exactly as printed: on a related French-test change, IRCC warned that incorrect language scores could lead to a refused application.
IRCC changes programme rules and score tables from time to time. Check the linked canada.ca page before you book a test or apply. This guide is general information, not immigration advice.
