What PTE score do you need for Edith Cowan University?

ECU accepts PTE Academic including PTE Academic UKVI and says PTE Academic Online is not accepted. Results are valid for two years. For Band 5 courses the test must be within two years of the course start, and results can come from one sitting or two sittings in 12 months: for tests from 23 April 2026 each sitting needs 63 overall and no skill can fall below listening 53, reading 54, writing 60 or speaking 66.

ECU's page gives no Pearson institution code. ECU's page does not list PTE Core. Pearson's PTE Core FAQ says PTE Core is initially only suitable for work and migration visa routes to Canada and that PTE Academic is the test accepted for university study.

For comparison, Bands 2 and 3 use IELTS Academic 6.0 with no band below 6.0, Band 4 uses 6.5 with no band below 6.0, and Band 5 uses 7.0 with 7.0 in listening, reading and speaking and 6.5 in writing.

The bands also list English programs that count, including Perth International College of English Level 7 for Band 3 and Level 8 for Band 4. Edith Cowan College runs foundation and diploma pathways into ECU with lower PTE entry scores.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your ECU programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
