What TOEFL score do you need for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University?

The ERLI page says an applicant to Embry-Riddle may receive conditional acceptance until they meet the English requirement of TOEFL iBT 79 or complete the ERLI programme. The Pathway page sets its own lower TOEFL entry point and uses official test scores together with the ERLI Placement Test to place students in semester 1 or 2.

TOEFL iBT score reports issued since January 2026 also carry a 1 to 6 band score alongside the 0 to 120 total; see our guide to the new TOEFL score scale. Where a page above gives only a 0 to 120 figure, that is the figure this guide reports.

For comparison, the ERLI page gives IELTS 6.0 alongside TOEFL iBT 79.

ERLI is an intensive English programme run at the Daytona Beach and Prescott campuses, with over 20 hours of English instruction a week. The Pathway Program, offered only at Daytona Beach, is designed as two semesters: four ERLI classes and one academic class, then three ERLI classes and two academic classes. The page says some students may be eligible for full academic study after one semester.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Embry-Riddle programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
