Test rules and how PTE compares with IELTS
Flinders says IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Duolingo and Cambridge tests must be taken in a registered testing centre, so the PTE Academic Online version does not meet the rule. PTE Academic is one of the accepted tests for the nursing degrees. The page does not state a validity period for PTE, how separate sittings are treated, or a Pearson institution code.
Flinders' page does not list PTE Core. Pearson's PTE Core FAQ says PTE Core is initially only suitable for work and migration visa routes to Canada and that PTE Academic is the test accepted for university study.
For comparison, the same tables set IELTS 6.0 overall with 6.0 in speaking and writing beside the PTE 50 default, IELTS 6.5 with 6.0 in each band beside PTE 58, and IELTS 7.0 with 7.0 in each band beside PTE 65 (65).

If your PTE score falls short
Flinders accepts successful completion of a pre-course English program from an approved ELICOS provider, except for the Bachelor of Nursing (Pre-Registration), the Bachelor of Nursing (Graduate Entry) and the Bachelor of Midwifery. Approved secondary or tertiary study taught in English can also count up to an overall IELTS of 6.5, with evidence no more than five years old.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Flinders programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
