Validity, self-reporting and IELTS

The undergraduate page says scores are official only when sent directly to the Office of Admissions from the testing agency, and are no longer valid after two years. The Wertheim page accepts tests taken within the past two years. At graduate level, the Graduate School says most departments will start reviewing with self-reported scores, entered on your Online Status Page, while official scores arrive. None of the pages mention PTE Academic Online or PTE Core.

For comparison, the undergraduate and graduate pages ask Academic IELTS 6.5 against PTE 55, and Wertheim asks IELTS 7 against PTE 66.

If your PTE score falls short

The Graduate School page accepts successful completion of Level 8 (Advanced) at FSU's Center for Intensive English Studies (CIES) in place of a test score. It also says the requirement can be waived at university level for applicants with a bachelor's degree or higher from the US or an English-speaking country, though your department may still ask for proof.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your FSU programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
