How Florida Tech handles TOEFL scores
The test must be taken no more than two years before you start at Florida Tech. That rule also applies to the assistantship levels. Teaching assistants whose home language is not English must also pass Florida Tech's international speaking assessment and complete the Teaching Assistant Seminar before they teach.
For comparison, the English proficiency page asks for IELTS 6.5 for admission, and the assistantship guideline asks teaching assistants for IELTS 7.0.

Completing ELS English for Academic Purposes level 112 also meets the admission requirement. The pages do not describe conditional admission for a low TOEFL score.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Florida Tech programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
