What Duolingo score do you need for Fulbright University Vietnam?

The FAQ says all successful applicants must submit an English test score at the minimum before their applications can be evaluated, but you do not need the certificate when you apply. Test scores must be dated within two years before the official enrolment date.

Other test scores may be accepted case by case by the Admissions Committee. Fulbright does not require SAT or ACT scores.

For comparison, the same page lists IELTS Academic 6.0, TOEFL iBT 70 (4.0 since 2026) and PTE Academic 46.

Applicants who have not met the requirement when they apply can submit an eligible score later, during a period the Admissions Committee announces, or take the Cambridge English Placement Test administered by Fulbright free of charge.

You are exempt if you are a native English speaker, have completed at least two consecutive years of high school, university or college education entirely in English, or meet Fulbright's criteria for English prizes in Vietnamese academic excellence competitions.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Fulbright programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
