If your PTE score falls short

You can also meet the requirement by completing a Heriot-Watt Pre-Sessional English programme within 19 months of your degree start date, or another BALEAP-accredited UK university pre-sessional within one year. The page gives no PTE entry score for the pre-sessional itself.

For the Student visa itself, gov.uk asks for English equivalent to CEFR B2 at degree level or above and B1 below degree level, and says a university can assess degree-level applicants' English itself. Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Heriot-Watt programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
