How do universities verify a PTE score?

Online, through Pearson's Score Report Website. An institution enters your 10-character Score Report Code, or your 9-digit Registration ID once you have sent the score through myPTE, and sees the report with your photo, scores, test date and valid-until date. Pearson tells institutions not to accept paper or PDF copies, and it does not verify printed reports.

The two codes institutions use

Pearson's verification page for institutions explains both. With the Score Report Code an institution can look you up without waiting for you to share; with the Registration ID it can only find you after you have sent the score from myPTE.

CodeFormat and placeWorks when
Score Report Code (SRC)10 characters, at the top of the reportAny time; Pearson says reports can be accessed for up to three years
Registration ID9 digits, under your nameOnly after you have sent the score through myPTE

What the institution sees

The verified report shows which test was taken, your photo and biographical details, the overall score (10–90), the four communicative skills scores, and the dates the test was taken and is valid until. Institutions can save it as a PDF or export scores to a spreadsheet (Pearson).

They only see the score you share, not whether earlier or later attempts were better or worse, and your Skills Profile is visible only to you (scoring help). The handbook adds that Pearson does not verify or authorise any printed Score Reports.

When a verified score changes

If a rescore changes your result, the new score replaces the old one at once and the old report is no longer available. Pearson says it is your responsibility to tell any institution you have already shared it with (rescore policy).

Under the malpractice policy, Pearson can share a malpractice decision with visa authorities and with institutions that accessed the score on the Score Report Website.

Pearson updates its policies from time to time. Check the linked page before you act. This guide is general information, not official PTE advice.
