How much is the IELTS exam fee in China?

With the British Council, you can change your test date or venue, or cancel, in your NEEA account up to the registration deadline. A cancellation refunds what you paid minus the CNY 380 fee, and the balance can also be used for another booking. After the deadline, cancellations are generally not accepted except for special reasons (British Council China). If a test is cancelled by force majeure, the British Council says you are normally offered a free transfer or a full refund.

The only official booking and payment channel for British Council IELTS is NEEA's IELTS registration site (ielts.neea.cn); the British Council warns against paying through third-party platforms. You pay online by Alipay, Bank of China BOC Smart Pay or China Merchants Bank One-net, and NEEA emails a payment confirmation. Up to five institutions receive a paper result free.

A One Skill Retake is booked separately through the "IELTS official service platform" WeChat mini programme, within 60 days of a full computer test and with the same ID document (British Council China). Before you spend CNY 1,990, practise free before you pay the fee.
