How much is the IELTS exam fee in Ethiopia?

Ethiopia works differently from most countries. You book online, then pay by bank transfer or bank deposit into the British Council's account, writing your full name and IELTS reference number (without hyphens) on the slip. Within five working days you must email the payment slip, your booking confirmation and a scan of your passport or national ID card to the British Council's payments address, or the booking is cancelled automatically. It does not accept paper copies at its office (British Council).

You can book with a passport or a national ID card. If your goal is a UK visa, check which document the UKVI booking asks for before you pay.

Standard IELTS follows the British Council's usual policy (British Council), and refunds can take 4 to 6 weeks. Special-consideration cases (illness, bereavement and similar) are accepted up to two calendar days after the test. IELTS for UKVI and Life Skills follow a separate British Council policy: cancel more than 14 days ahead and you get 75% back, within 14 days but more than two days ahead 50%, within two days 25%, and nothing on or after test day. A UKVI booking can be transferred once, more than 14 days ahead, to a date within three months, and the centre may charge up to 25%.

If you are a nurse or midwife heading for the UK, book IELTS Academic (or IELTS for UKVI Academic) at a test centre. The Nursing and Midwifery Council says it does not accept IELTS Online or One Skill Retake, because all four skills must be tested in one sitting (NMC).
