How much is the IELTS exam fee in Mauritius?

Price is not the deciding factor, because the fees match. Choose by place and time: the British Council runs sessions at Ebene, Port Louis and Rose-Hill, usually from 9.00 to 12.00 or 13.00 to 16.00, while IDP's Port Louis sessions start at 5:30 PM, which suits people who work during the day. IDP marks its sessions as One Skill Retake available.

Standard IELTS follows the British Council's Mauritius cancellation, refund and transfer policy; you cancel or transfer in the Test Taker Portal. Illness, bereavement and other exceptional circumstances can be raised with the test centre before the test or up to two calendar days after it, never once results are out. The centre replies within seven working days, and refunds can take 4 to 6 weeks.

IDP publishes the same structure on its country sites: a free transfer 15 or more days before the test, up to 25% within 5 to 14 days, none within 4 days, and a 75% refund for cancelling 15 or more days ahead (IDP policy). IDP's Mauritius policy link was not loading on 14 October 2026, so confirm the terms in your booking confirmation.

IELTS for UKVI and Life Skills follow the separate UKVI policy: cancel more than 14 days ahead for 75% back, within 14 days but more than two days ahead for 50%, within two days for 25%, and nothing on or after test day. A UKVI booking can be transferred only once, more than 14 days ahead, to a date within three months, and the centre may charge up to 25%. The British Council lists CEFR B2 for the UK Skilled Worker and Health and Care Worker visas: at least 5.5 in each of the four parts of IELTS for UKVI. B1 (4.0 in each part) still applies to people already on those routes before 8 January 2026 who are only extending (British Council).
