IELTS fees in Turkey by provider
Turkey is one of the few markets where the two providers charge different amounts for the same test. British Council figures come from its dates, fees and locations page and UKVI page; its session listings showed 12,000 TL in all 14 cities with upcoming dates. IDP's come from the fee table on its Turkey test centre finder and its live Istanbul and Ankara sessions. Neither shows VAT as a separate line.
IDP's Ankara sessions that use a computer with the Writing test on paper were priced at 13,430 TL, more than its standard 12,210 TL. The British Council also offers computer with Writing on paper, but not for UKVI, and does not publish a separate price for it.

Transfer, cancellation and refund rules
Both providers use the same scale for standard IELTS (British Council policy, IDP policy). Cancel 15 or more days before the test for a 75% refund; within 14 days the fee is not refunded. Transfers are free 15 or more days out and cost 25% of the fee between 5 and 14 days (IDP says up to 25%); closer than that, a transfer counts as a cancellation. The British Council says refunds take 4 to 6 weeks.
IELTS for UKVI and Life Skills with the British Council follow a separate scale and need a signed refund request form sent by email (UKVI policy): 75% back more than 14 days out, 50% within 14 days but more than two days out, 25% within two days, and nothing on test day. See our IELTS cancel, reschedule and refund guide.

Paying, ID rules and results
The British Council takes a credit or debit card online, or a bank transfer up to 5 days before the test quoting your full name, test date and booking reference. It refuses payments from sanctioned banks. On test day it accepts only a valid Turkish national ID card or passport with a photo: a residence permit, Blue Card, work permit or driving licence will not get you in (British Council). Foreign residents should register with their passport.
Results on computer take 1 to 2 days with the British Council, 5 to 7 days for IELTS for UKVI and 6 to 8 days for IELTS Online, and arrive only as an electronic Test Report Form (results); IDP's sessions say 1 to 5 days. IDP's IELTS Online requires you to live in Turkey, and non-nationals must prove residency and book at least four days ahead (IDP). Take a free IELTS mock test before you pay.
