What IELTS score do social workers need in Canada?

Under policy Op-3 you meet the fluency requirement without a test if you completed a social work or social service work programme entirely in English or French, completed at least one year of post-secondary study entirely in English or French, or have at least six months' experience as a social worker or social service worker providing services primarily in English or French.

Applicants also answer six self-declaration questions (for example, whether English is their primary language and whether they trained in English). The policy says applicants who answer no to some or all of them must reach the minimum scores on an accepted test.

The College will not accept a result from a test completed more than two years before it receives your application. You pay for the test and arrange for results to be sent directly from the testing agency to the College.

An overall IELTS band, combining sittings and One Skill Retake are not mentioned by the College. French speakers can use TEF Canada or TCF Canada instead. Regulators change these rules, sometimes at short notice. Confirm the current scores on the College page before you book a test.
