Test rules and how to report your score
Both pages describe 54 as a recommended score rather than a hard cut-off. The undergraduate page notes that there are no university and college codes for IELTS, PTE Academic or the Duolingo English Test; contact the Office of Admission with questions. Neither page mentions PTE Academic Online, PTE Core or a validity period.
On the same pages IELTS is recommended at 6.0 and TOEFL iBT at 80, so PTE 54 is Ithaca's equivalent to IELTS 6.0.

Undergraduate applicants who attended an English-medium school for at least three years with passing English grades are exempt, and graduate applicants with a bachelor's from an English-medium institution may be exempt. Neither page describes a conditional admission or pathway route.
