PTE rules at King's

Both pages say King's accepts PTE Academic and PTE Academic for UKVI but not PTE Academic Online. A test is valid if taken within two years of the start date, counted from the first day of the month your course begins. All elements must come from one test; King's cannot combine scores across two tests. Undergraduate offer holders send their result by message through King's Apply with a scanned copy of the score report attached.

For the foundation programmes, students who need a Student visa can only use IELTS for UKVI (Academic) or PTE Academic UKVI from a UKVI-approved test centre. Against IELTS, the same pages put Band B at IELTS 7.0 with 6.5 in each skill and Band D at 6.5 with 6.0 in each skill, matching PTE 69 (62) and 62 (59).

If your PTE score falls short

The postgraduate page lists King's Pre-Sessional English courses as an accepted route for Band B. For undergraduates, the foundation rows above show the PTE entry points, and the page says students who exceed the Extended Foundation requirement are moved to the King's International Foundation programme.

For the Student visa itself, gov.uk asks for English equivalent to CEFR B2 at degree level or above and B1 below degree level, and says a university can assess degree-level applicants' English itself. Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your King's programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
