Conditional admission for engineering
For engineering, the English score is optional. Applicants who meet the minimum may be admitted unconditionally. Those who submit no score, or a lower one, may be admitted on condition that they take extra General Education English courses at KMITL in their first year. Scores must be no more than two years old.
The BBA accepts only valid, unexpired score reports on the day of the interview and also lists TOEFL paper 513 and TOEIC 605.

Intake and scholarships
The engineering programmes for academic year 2026 began at the end of June 2026. The minimum requirements for Academic Excellence freshmen scholarships include an SAT score of 1,300 and IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 79. Selection uses academic records, test scores and an interview.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your KMITL programme page and in your offer, so check it there before you book a test.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
