What IELTS score do you need for Leiden University?

Leiden's minimum scores are in each programme description, so there is no single university-wide figure. International Studies (BA) and International Relations and Organisations (BSc) ask IELTS 6.0 with 6.0 in each component, TOEFL 4.5 (4.5 each), Cambridge 169 per component, LanguageCert 65 and PTE 61 (61 each).

At master's level, International Organisation (MSc) and Law and Society (MSc) ask IELTS 6.5 with 6.0 for each component. English Literature and Culture (MA) asks 7.5 with at least 7.0 in all four components.

Results may not be more than two years old. Leiden does not accept IELTS Academic Online or the TOEFL iBT Home Edition, except when you cannot test in person because centres are inaccessible or closed due to unsafe conditions. In that case you upload a document explaining the situation in your region.

You can be exempt with an English-taught IB Diploma (or English A HL), or if you completed your entire secondary or higher education in the USA, UK, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, Canada (except French-taught programmes), Singapore, South Africa or Malta. Leiden may still ask for a test if your documents cast doubt on your English.
