Bachelor's English requirement
Maastricht shows its English requirement as a short questionnaire on each programme page. If you answer "no" to every exemption question, the International Business and Psychology pages list the tests below. University College Maastricht asks for more:

| LanguageCert Academic | 65 | 70 |

Master's English requirement
For the School of Business and Economics, the SBE (pre-)master's requirement is Academic IELTS 6.5, TOEFL iBT 90 (before 2026) or 4.5 (from 2026), including the TOEFL iBT Home Edition, TOEIC, or Cambridge B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency. PTE is not on the SBE list.
Other faculties set their own lists. The Data Science for Decision Making master's asks IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 90/4.5, plus TOEIC and Cambridge options, and does not list PTE either. Check your own programme's questionnaire before booking a test.

On the bachelor's pages you meet the requirement without a test if you hold a Dutch VWO diploma, a VWO-equivalent EU/EEA diploma where you studied English to the final year, a secondary diploma from a country where English is official and the language of instruction, a fully English-taught bachelor's, or an International or European Baccalaureate, a US high school diploma or UK GCE A-levels.
SBE master's applicants who are EU/EEA citizens automatically meet the requirement, as do applicants with a degree taught solely in English. The Data Science master's also accepts proof of English-taught courses, an English-language internship or English-language work experience instead of a test.
The bachelor's pages accept language certificates only if they are no more than two years old on the programme start date, and take IELTS Academic Online or the TOEFL iBT Home Edition only when a test centre cannot be reached or is closed for safety reasons. Maastricht says it may still reject you or set extra requirements if it has reasonable doubts about your English.
Maastricht's English pages we read do not set a separate English score for the Dutch student residence permit. For how the permit and English proof work in general, see IELTS for the Netherlands.
