Who can use Duolingo at Macquarie
Macquarie lists Duolingo separately from its main tests, as an online test it accepts only for applicants to the Standard Foundation program, Study Abroad and Exchange students, and remote students where attending a test centre would result in hardship. For Transnational Education programs it is considered case by case, with written approval from the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic).
Unless otherwise specified, test scores must be less than two years old at the date your course starts, and if you have several tests in that period Macquarie considers your single best result. The page gives no Duolingo-specific instructions for sending scores.
For comparison, the same page sets the Competent level, used by most courses, at IELTS Academic 6.5 with no band below 6.0.

If your Duolingo score falls short
The page says applicants who do not meet the English requirement for a course may be given a packaged offer that includes an English Language Program at Macquarie University College, which leads into most Macquarie courses.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Macquarie programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
