Manchester Met scores by test
From Manchester Met's English language requirements page. Results are normally current for two years, and scores from different tests or sittings cannot be combined. Duolingo and the Oxford ELLT are not accepted for Architecture. The Oxford ELLT Digital is not accepted from nationals of Bangladesh, Ghana, India, Iran, Kenya, Nepal, Nigeria and Pakistan, who must take the in-person ELLT Global.

Course pages read on 6 October 2026 match the standard levels. Manchester Met lists higher scores for BA Architecture (6.5 with 6.5 writing), Physiotherapy (7.0, 6.5), Speech and Language Therapy (8.0, 7.5) and Adult Nursing (6.5 with 6.0 in writing). Research degrees need 6.5 with 6.0 in each section.

Manchester Met's main table accepts 70% in Standard XII English from the CBSE and CISCE (ISC) boards only. Its India page also accepts Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal State Board English at 80%, which the main table does not list, so confirm with admissions. WAEC and NECO English at C6 are accepted, and the Nigeria page confirms C6 in place of IELTS. The Pakistan page lists IELTS only, and a Nepal school route is not stated.

Pre-sessional English and the Student visa
Manchester Met's Language Centre pre-sessional courses for September 2027 entry run 30, 20, 10 or 5 weeks, costing £12,500, £8,250, £4,300 or £2,150. For an undergraduate 6.0 (5.5) course, entry is from IELTS 4.5 (4.0), 4.5 (4.5), 5.0 (5.0) or 5.5 (5.5). For a 6.5 (5.5) master's it is 4.5 (4.0), 5.0 (4.5), 5.5 (5.0) or 6.0 (5.5). Passing means no further IELTS test.
For a Student visa, UK Visas and Immigration asks for English at CEFR B2 for degree-level study and B1 below degree level, per gov.uk. At degree level, gov.uk adds, your university can assess your English itself and may ask you to take a different test.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Manchester Met programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
