Validity, exemptions and deadlines

Eu-HEM results cannot be more than two years old on the application deadline. The page exempts holders of an International Baccalaureate with English at Higher Level (minimum 4) or Standard Level (minimum 6), and Cambridge CPE grade A or CAE grade A, B or C passed in 2005 or later. Country-specific exemptions also apply, with the full list linked from the page. MBA scores are valid for three years from the test date.

Eu-HEM deadlines on the page are 8 November 2026, 7 February 2027, 11 April 2027 and 30 May 2027, and non-EU applicants are told to apply early because visa processing can take three months or longer.

Pearson has discontinued PTE Academic Online for new bookings, so plan on a test-centre PTE Academic sitting even where this page still lists the online version. See can you take PTE at home.

Other admission requirements

Eu-HEM also asks for a completed bachelor's degree with a grade average comparable to a Norwegian C or an Austrian "Gut", a motivation letter, a CV and a signed declaration accepting the participation costs. The MBA runs for 4 semesters and 90 ECTS, costs EUR 26,650, and asks for at least three years of professional experience, with the proof of English followed by an interview.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your MCI programme page and in your offer, so check it there before you book a test.

Minimum vs competitive score

Where MCI Innsbruck (Management Center Innsbruck) publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.

Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.

If you are close to the line, aim for a margin above it: one weak skill can miss the requirement even when the overall band clears it. Not sure where you stand? Take a free IELTS mock test and get a band for each skill.
