Other documents and what does not count
WUM says that citizenship of a country where English is the official language cannot be the basis for recognising English proficiency, so a US, Nigerian or Indian passport does not replace a certificate on its own. The page also accepts an IB Diploma, a European Baccalaureate Diploma, or a foreign first-, second- or long-cycle master's diploma taught in English.
A certificate that is not on the list can be sent to recruitment@wum.edu.pl for the Admission Board to confirm. The page also accepts equivalent certificates that meet the rules of the Minister of Science and Higher Education once the Board has verified them. PTE Academic is not named on this page.

When to send the certificate
WUM asks candidates who have qualified for admission to submit the English certificate as part of the final Admission File, so the test result is needed before you finish enrolment rather than at the first application step. Book IELTS early enough for the Academic result to be released before your document deadline.
WUM's separate Premed College and Faculty of Pharmacy pages set their own English levels, and this guide does not cover them. Use the Medicine page linked above only for the six-year Medicine programme.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your WUM programme page and in your offer, so check it there before you book a test.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where the Medical University of Warsaw publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
If you are close to the line, aim for a margin above it: one weak skill can miss the requirement even when the overall band clears it. Not sure where you stand? Take a free IELTS mock test and get a band for each skill.
